Major McDonald was a member of the Territorial band for 20 years, predominantly featuring on Solo Cornet and Flugel Horn.  He also played in the New York Staff Band (1983-1987) as well as serving as Divisional Music Director in three Divisions (Alabama-Lousiana-Mississippi, Kentucky-Tennessee, and Maryland-West Virginia) and on staff in the Territorial Music Department. Over the years, Mike taught thousands of young people to play including past and current members of the Southern Staff Band.  Bandmaster Nick Simmons-Smith writes “He was a quiet professional in rehearsal, but capable of making the whole band laugh with a well-timed comment!”

A huge brass band enthusiast, Major McDonald was Promoted to Glory in April 2024.
