Bethany Hawks
The summer before Bethany entered Western Kentucky University as a graphic Design Major, she had her first experience with The Salvation Army working as a lifeguard at Camp Sebago in Southern Maine. That was the summer that changed the rest of her life, not only did she begin her relationship with Jesus, but she fell in love with the ministry of The Salvation Army. Since Childhood visual Arts have played a huge roll in her life, and as an employee and then the last 21 years as an Officer she has sought out ways to use her gifts to impact others. These moments have included camp Arts & crafts, to using art to reach children who have come out of domestic violence and women who have experienced Human Trafficking. The joy of putting a paint brush in an older adult’s hand for the first time. Or to be a positive voice speaking into a teenager helping them to realize gifts they have been giving, these are her passions. As a visual learner Bethany sees the necessity to have visual prompts throughout worship, ways in which all learning styles can engage in worship and to hear and see God.
Bethany and her husband Todd currently serve at Territorial Headquarters as the Community Relations and Development Secretaries with an amazing team. When not in the office or out in the territory you can find the Hawks cheering on their three children who inspire them daily. Recently Bethany has taken up watercolor painting and has joined a group of ladies who gather monthly to create.
